Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

You will start your epic safari with a drive to the Tarangire, home to the largest concentration of elephants in Northen Tanzania. Animal life is drawn to the Tarangire River during the dry season which runs through the park.

With its majestic baobab trees scattered across the park, Tarangire offers a diverse number of attractions and wildlife such as lions, giraffes, impala, warthogs, zebras, wildebeests, dwarf mongoose and ostriches as well as various types of antelopes such as gazelles to fill your experience.

Home to around 500 bird species migratory, endemic and rare species, the park is a birders paradise. After an afternoon game drive that promises a spectacular game viewing, you will be directed to your accommodation to settle and relax.

Day 2: Tarangire - Lake Natron

A truly different attraction from the rest, Lake Natron is a shallow lake that sometimes turns orange-red in color due to the algae that thrive in it. It is these algae and the microorganisms that around two million flamingos come to breed on the lake, truly a sight like no other.

You can opt for a 4-hour hike on the nearby Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai, visit ancient hominid footprints or beautiful waterfalls among so many other activities in the area to immerse yourself with.

Day 3: Lake Natron – Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you will head to Lake Manyara National Park, a destination that promises an opportunity to witness a huge variety of bird species as well as the stunning migratory flamingos. This Rift Valley Lake also sustains a rich wildlife in the surrounding area that ensures a wonderful game drive in this small park.

The park lies on the floor of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment, delivering amazing scenery of vegetation and wildlife such as elephants, lions, blue and ververt monkeys, girraffes, buffalos, zebras and many others. The lake attracts over 400 species of migratory and wading birds and other abundant wildlife that depend on it including hippos. The shallow alkaline habitat of the lake breeds microorganisms that draws large populations of flamingos.

The dense tropical rainforest inside the park also offers a chance to undertake high tree canopy walks that gives another dimension to your experience. Other activities including bicycling around Mto wa Mbu town with a view of a local community living around the national park.

Day 4: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for a full day on the Serengeti. The Maasai term “Siringitu,” which means “endless plains,” is where the name “Serengeti” originates. When you see the vast expanse of grassland savannas that extends as far as the eye can see in the distance, you will understand why. The Serengeti is rich in wildlife and beautiful landscapes that has earned it its famous reputation.

For birders, the park boasts about 500 bird species that promises a birder’s satisfaction. Species like the African Ostrich, crowned cranes, the elegant secretary birds and the abundant vulture species that promise a kill on the plains.

Day 5 & 6: Serengeti Game Drive

You will go to spend two full days exploring the famous Serengeti National Park. An early morning drive into the Serengeti is surely one of the highlights of your trip. Get a chance to see Tanzania’s amazing wildlife, including the big cats. 

The Great Migration herds moving through the Serengeti is another spectacle to see. Around 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras and impala migrate through the Serengeti every year. Predators including lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs, hyenas and crocodiles pick off the old and weak animals keeping populations healthy and their numbers stable. Some 300,000 migrant animals are lost to predators, river crossings and fatigue during the migration every cycle.

After an unforgettable day, you will head back to your accommodation to relax and savor the experience of the day.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha/ Airport

Descend from the Crater’s rim to the floor and experience the most amazing geological feature in Africa and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. Formed three million years ago, and with a distinctive habitat, the crater is home to one of the densest wildlife populations on earth.

Get to explore animal species of the East African savanna in the grass steppes and acacia forest, including the “Big Five” (rhino, elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard). With more than 500 species of bird, the crater is a birder’s paradise.

After a picnic lunch on the crater floor, you head back to Arusha for your outbound flight.
