7 Days Tanzania Classic Safari

Tour Overview

This safari takes you to the famous northern circuit wildlife hotspots of Tanzania has to offer. Enjoy the large elephant herds and majestic baobab trees of the Tarangire National Park. Head to the spectacular Lake Manyara nestled in the Great East African Rift Valley escarpment, a chance to see abundant bird species on the lake and the wildlife that depend on it. You will head to the world-renowned Serengeti National Park and enjoy a 2-day excursion through the endless plains filled with diverse wildlife. Crown off your adventure inside one of the world’s largest calderas, The Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by an Royal Travel Safaris guide waiting to take you to Arusha for an overnight stay. It takes an hour to get from the airport to the accommodation. Dinnertime will be when the safari briefing will take place.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Proceed to the Tarangire NP from your accommodation after an early breakfast. Observe large elephant herds and exotic creatures including lions, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, warthogs, and other wildlife as you take on the majestic baobab filled park that adds amazing experience to the park.

The Tarangire River, which is another highlight of the park, turns into the greatest stop to see all the species that is found in the park during the dry season (July to October). Tarangire is a bird lover’s delight with more than 500 different bird species, including the Maasai Ostrich, the largest bird in the world.

Day 3: Manyara Game Drive

Once you get at Lake Manyara, you will have the opportunity to witness a huge variety of bird species as well as the stunning migratory flamingos. The lake also sustains a rich wildlife in the surrounding area that ensures a wonderful game drive in this small park.

The dense tropical rainforest inside the park also offers a chance to undertake high tree canopy walks that gives another dimension to your experience. Get close to nature by touching and feeling the African bush.  Other activities including bicycling around Mto wa Mbu town view the local community around living around the National Park.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park through Ndutu

You will go to the Lake Ndutu region today, which is a part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem’s Ngorongoro conservation area. An extensive forest of acacia trees, Ndutu area is one of the best game viewing spots in Tanzania during the lush green season where there are excellent chances to see cheetahs and other animals that take part in the great migration.

Continue to the famous Serengeti after lunch for daily chances to see Tanzania’s amazing wildlife, including the big cats. . The Maasai term “siringitu,” which means “endless plains,” is where the name “Serengeti” originates. When you see the vast expanse of grassland savannas that extends as far as the eye can see in the distance, you will understand why.

Day 5: The Central Serengeti

With its vast grasslands that stretch as far as the eye can see, an early morning drive into the central Serengeti is surely one of the highlights of your trip. You proceed to the Seronera area, one of the park’s greatest wildlife concentration areas, home to the Seronera River, a crucial water supply that draws wildlife that is broadly representative of the Serengeti’s species.

The Great Migration herds dispersed over the central plains, migrating south, during the brief rainy season in November and December is a spectacle to see. As the hundreds of thousands of migrating animals make their way back up north, during the longer rainy season, which lasts from April to June the day will be filled with breathtaking experiences.

Day 6: Serengeti - Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Before leaving for the Ngorongoro Crater, set out on your final Serengeti game drive for more breath-taking photo ops. When you arrive at the crater, you may stand on the rim and look spectacularly down to the floor and out across the 100 square mile area of the crater.

You travel to Karatu for dinner and some free time after this glimpse of tomorrow’s plunge into the Crater.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater tour - Departure day, (JRO)

On the final day of your amazing safari package, descend from the Crater’s rim to the floor and experience one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and the most amazing geological feature in Africa. Formed three million years ago, and with a distinctive habitat, the crater is home to one of the densest wildlife populations on earth.

Get to explore and discover nearly every animal species of the East African savanna in the grass steppes and acacia forest, including the “Big Five” (rhino, elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard). With more than 500 species of bird, the crater is a birder’s paradise. You may need to travel further to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) depending on the time of your flight.
